Suhrawardy Udyan to be allotted ‘conditionally’ for BNP rally in Dhaka: Home Minister

The Dhaka event will kick off a two-month-long series of BNP rallies at seven divisional headquarters, followed by Chattogram, Mymensingh, Khulna, Rangpur, Barisal, Faridpur and Sylhet. Except for the first one in Chattogram, the rallies were combined with transport strikes, and coincidentally each strike was launched two days before the rallies.

The BNP alleges that the ruling Awami League influenced local and national level transport owners to launch industrial actions so that their party members would face tough challenges to reach the venues of previous rallies.

Allaying any concerns if the government would create such a hindrance ahead of the rally, Asaduzzaman said: “We [the government] has always maintained that we only intervene when [BNP] Violates ‘political norms’. we have no reason to prevent them from holding them, as long as they don’t infringe on any [the rally],
