Taliban officials and witnesses said a suicide bomber blew himself up near Afghanistan’s foreign ministry where a Chinese delegation was due to meet on Wednesday, killing more than 20 people.
The Taliban have claimed improved security since returning to power in 2021, but there have been numerous bombings and attacks, many claimed by the local chapter of the Islamic State (IS) group.
An AFP team was conducting interviews at the neighboring Ministry of Information when the explosion occurred on Wednesday.
