Sunil Gangopadhyay, the famous Bengali poet and writer died today (Tuesday) at his residence in south kolkata(India). He was very popular in west-Bengal and in Bangladesh . infact, he was a prolific writer. He is the author of over 200 books.
He was born on September 7,1934 in Faridpur of Bangladesh (the then British India).
He had his masters degree in Bengali from Calcutta university.
Oscar winner Satyajit Roy filmed of his writing (notably Aranyer Din-Raatri,The Days and Nights of the Forest). Kakababu series was his unique creation. He received several awards including Ananda Puraskar and Sera Bangali Lifetime Achievement Award by Star Ananda(this year). Many of the distinguished persons sent condolence messages in his death.
His sad demise has made an irreparable loss in the Bengali literary world.
