Abdul Kahar Balkhi, a spokesman for the Taliban-led Afghan Foreign Ministry, criticized the comments.
He added, “The Western occupation of Afghanistan is truly a disgraceful moment in human history and Prince Harry’s comments are a microcosm of the trauma experienced by Afghans who have murdered innocent people without accountability.”
Asked about Harry’s comments, a spokesman for the UK Ministry of Defense said: “We do not comment on operational details for security reasons.”
Representatives for Prince Harry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The book was released by a member of the family who strictly controls personal information about the royal family, following Harry and his US wife Meghan’s move from royal duties to California and building a new life in 2020 after departure.
The couple have since drawn sharp criticism from the House of Windsor and the British press.
