Opener Tanjid Hasan scored his maiden ODI century to help Bangladesh post a competitive score of 290 for five in the third and final match of the series against Pakistan at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.

Tanjid’s 107 off 107 balls provided the backbone of the innings after Bangladesh were invited to bat first in the series decider.

The 23-year-old left-handed batsman achieved the milestone in style, recording his maiden century in his 31st appearance by hitting a six off spinner Salman Agha. His innings included seven sixes and six fours before he was caught at short cover off the bowling of Abrar Ahmed.

The hosts got off to a bright start as Tanjid and Saif Hasan put on a 105-run opening partnership, Bangladesh’s second 50-plus opening partnership in 17 innings. Saif contributed 36 consecutive runs before being bowled by Shaheen Afridi.
