A 13-year-old boy died after falling from the roof of a train at Gendaria Railway Station in Dhaka this afternoon.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)’s police camp, confirmed the death.
The boy, identified as Arshadul, was seriously injured around 3:30pm when he fell from the train roof.
A passenger on the train, Md Yusuf, immediately took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:30pm.
Yusuf said the train was en route to Narayanganj when the boy, who was on the roof, fell as it reached Gendaria Station. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Arshadul’s family lives in Hasnabad area of Keraniganj.
Inspector Faruk also said a train passenger admitted the boy, who later died while receiving medical care. The body was kept in the Dhaka Medical College morgue, and his relatives have been informed, he added.
