A journalist noted prior warnings about possible terrorist attacks on major facilities, new concerns raised two days earlier, and the tightening of security around airports announced on Monday.

The journalist also said that key figures in the interim government had stated several times that there was no insurgency in the real sense in the country, and asked whether the government actually believed that there was no extremist activity in Bangladesh and how much information it had on the matter.

In response, Zahed Ur Rahman said, “First of all, we cannot disclose how much information the government has. This is sensitive information and it will remain confidential. But what the government has already said is a fact – there are terrorists in Bangladesh.”
