It is a chronic disease, it is contagious, and like any other dangerous disease, prevention is better than cure. Once this infection spreads its strong tentacles, it is often untreatable. It squeezes the life blood out of all morality, honesty, integrity or any such values and principles. It is a deadly disease, Benjis.
Given the flood of news reports on the almost “iconic” corruption and crime of Benazir and Aziz, it seems only appropriate to name this contagion “Benzies”, like the name-mergers of Hollywood couples – Bennifer, Brangelina, Tomkat, etc.
We are stunned to see the amount of property and wealth amassed by former police chief Benazir Ahmed. We are shocked at the lows to which former army chief Aziz Ahmed has stooped to aid and abet his criminal brethren. But are we really that shocked? Don't we all firmly believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg, there are innumerable Benazirs and Azizs all around us, making money, building palatial bungalows, mingling with multi-millionaires from across the world?
