The Bangladesh-flagged bulk carrier MV Abdullah, seized by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean, is carrying a supply of food for about 25 days as well as 200 tonnes of drinking water.

After the pirates captured the ship, the ship's chief officer Mohammad Atiqullah Khan sent this information to the ship's owner Kabir Group of Industries in an audio message on Tuesday.

In the audio message, Atiqullah Khan was heard saying, “We have 20-25 days of food supply, 200 tonnes of drinking water. The ship also has 55,000 tonnes of coal. All crew members have been advised to avoid unnecessary use of stock.
