There is discord and fear of conflict in AL before the Upazila elections.

By keeping the upazila elections open to all, the party plans to reduce the divisions of previous national elections and make voting competitive.

Some leaders believe that the party still does not have the trust of the people in matters of elections. Therefore, it is a strategy to make local government elections competitive and increase voting percentage.

Moreover, it may persuade other parties including BNP to participate in the elections. This strategy was implemented in the elections of Mymensingh and Cumilla city corporations. Some central leaders said that the fight between local leaders in both the municipal corporations has increased.

Despite these challenges, Awami League leaders expressed hope that the conflicts seen during national elections would not be repeated.
