In its statement on Monday, the DRU said several journalists, including eight members of the organisation, work with the daily. Due to the cancellation of the announcement, more than 1,500 journalists, officers and employees working with the daily across the country including Dhaka will be rendered jobless. The government and the officials involved will have to consider how the people associated with the newspaper will run their families.
The DRU was hopeful that the government and newspaper officials would be able to resume publication of the daily through negotiations.
Meanwhile, Gano Adhikar Parishad has expressed deep displeasure over the government’s decision. In a statement, the organisation’s convenor Reza Kibria and member secretary Nurul Haq opposed the move to cancel the announcement of Dainik Dinkle.
