
Three new trains are officially added to Bangladesh railway today. The new intercity train, Jamalpur Express will ply between Dhaka and Tarakandi -Jamalpur via Jamuna Bridge East railway station. This train with modern facilities will leave Dhaka at 10:30 am and reach Jamalpur at 4:05 pm. It will leave Jamalpur at 5:45 pm and reach Dhaka at 10:30 pm. Sunday will be this train’s holiday. Jamalpur Express has altogether 620 seats and 110 of them are air-conditioned.
Another intercity train Rajbari Express has replaced old Faridpur Express, which will ply between Pachuria-Faridpur-Bhanga. Long awaited Dhalarchar Express has replaced old Pabna Express same day. This train will ply between Dhalarchar and Rajshahi via Pabna.
On the same day coaches of other two trains from East Zone was replaced by newly imported modern coaches. These two trains are Udayan and Paharika Expresses which ply on Sylhet-Chittagong route.
So it was a big day for Bangladesh Railway and rail fans who love train travel. Corruption and mismanagement have been a concern for railway which is blamed for railway’s continued financial losses. Experts have been pushing for more budget allocation and accountability of rail officials.
