Torrential rains cause flash floods in Bandarban, leaving 30,000 people stranded

According to the district administration, at least 718 houses have been damaged and six people have been injured in landslides in various sub-districts. Also, 192 mm of rain was recorded in 24 hours till Monday morning.

A 30-year-old Mempai Mro was swept away while crossing a canal at Dochari Union in Naikhongchari Upazila on Sunday afternoon. He is still missing till the filing of the report.

Heavy flooding also disrupted power supply in low-lying areas of the city since midnight.

Besides this, road connectivity from Bandarban to Rangamati, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar was snapped as roads were submerged in flood water at various places. As a result, access to essential services and supplies has been severely limited for affected areas.
