TORONTO – Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham exited Friday’s game against the Blue Jays in the sixth inning with what the Yankees described as right hamstring tightness.
Grisham slowed between first and second base after hitting a two-run single off Mason Fluharty, taking the extra bag on the throw and sliding in safely on a play that cut Toronto’s lead to 7-5 at the time.
Grisham left the field while the play was being reviewed. He was replaced at second base by pinch-runner Max Schuemann.
If the Yankees need to place Grisham on the injured list, one option to take his spot would be Jasson Domínguez, who is currently rehabbing with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said before Friday’s game that the team planned to have Domínguez play seven to nine innings on both Friday and Saturday before re-evaluating. A Grisham injury could accelerate that timetable.
