An Iranian military spokesman warned that Tehran’s response to any US action would not be limited – as was the case in June last year when US aircraft and missiles joined Israel in a short air war against Iran – but that a decisive response would be “given immediately”.
Brigadier General Mohammed Akraminiya told state television that the US aircraft carrier had “serious vulnerabilities” and that several US bases in the Gulf region were “within the range of our medium-range missiles”.
He said, “If the Americans have made such a miscalculation, it certainly won’t unfold the way Trump envisioned – doing a quick operation and then, two hours later, tweeting that the operation is over.”
An official in the Gulf, where the states host US military sites, told AFP that the threat of a US attack on Iran is “very clear”.
“It will bring chaos to the region, hurting not only the region but the US economy and sending oil and gas prices skyrocketing,” the official said.
