Tucker’s century on debut gives Ireland a 131-run lead

Bangladesh are having a disappointing day as touring Ireland showed a brilliant rearguard action to take a 131-run lead on the third day of the one-off Test series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Resuming the day on a precarious 27–4, Ireland reached 286–8 at stumps on the third day.

On the day, Ireland scored 259 runs for the loss of only four wickets thanks to a brilliant century from Lorcan Tucker and an unbeaten 71 from Andy McBrine.

The duo added 111 runs for the 7th wicket partnership when fast bowler Shorful Islam dismissed Peter Moore to reduce the visitors to 51 for 5. The visitors still needed 32 runs to avoid an innings defeat, which looked imminent after being 13 for 4. In reply to Bangladesh’s 369 the previous day.
