Twitter CEO Musk says user signups are at all-time high, touts ‘Everything App’ features

Twitter Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk says new user signups on the social media platform are at an “all-time high” as they face a mass exodus of advertisers to other platforms over concerns about verification and hate speech. users struggle with.

In the past seven days through November 16, signups averaged more than two million, Musk said in a tweet late Saturday, a 66% increase over the same week in 2021.

He also said that user active minutes were at a record high of nearly 8 billion active minutes per day in the last seven days through November 15, which is a 30% increase from the same week last year.

There has been a decrease in impersonation of hate speech till November 13 as compared to October last year.

According to Musk, impersonations were reported on the platform earlier this month before and after the Twitter Blue launch.

Musk, who also runs rocket company SpaceX, brain-chip startup Neuralink and tunneling firm The Boring Company, has said buying Twitter would accelerate his ambition to build an “everything app” called X.

Musk’s “Twitter 2.0 the everything app” will have features such as encrypted direct messages (DMs), longform tweets and payments, according to the tweet.
