He hoped, “due attention of the international community to the Rohingya issue will speed up the repatriation of Myanmar citizens.”
The Prime Minister cautioned that a prolonged stay of Rohingyas could lead to further social problems in the Cox’s Bazar region.
The UK envoy said the return of the Rohingya would be expedited if the issue made international headlines.
He focused on providing education to the Rohingyas and providing them with skill development training so that they could be re-employed after returning to their homeland, Myanmar.
Various issues such as bilateral relations, security, climate change and regional affairs also figured in the meeting.
The meeting expressed satisfaction at the current bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UK and hoped to further strengthen the ties.
