NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said Thursday that NATO allies and partners have provided Ukraine with 1,550 armored vehicles and 230 tank units to help build and take back territory from Russian forces.
The deliveries “represent more than 98 percent of combat vehicles delivered to Ukraine” since the start of the war in February last year, Stoltenberg told a news conference.
“In total we have trained and equipped more than nine new Ukrainian armored brigades. This will put Ukraine in a strong position to continue retaking the occupied territory,” he said.
NATO member states have also provided anti-aircraft systems and artillery, while Poland and the Czech Republic have provided Soviet-made MiG-29 aircraft.
