Bangladesh will get duty-free access to everything except arms under the broad priority level by 2029. The country will benefit from more liberal rules of origin compared to the previous GSP regime.

Under the DCTS, Bangladesh will automatically move to advanced priority level in 2029, providing duty-free access to 98 per cent of Bangladesh’s exports to the UK, including clothing.

DCTS is about promoting trade and prosperity. The retention of the plan is based on respect for human and labor rights despite compliance with international conventions. It focuses on civil and political rights, anti-corruption, climate change and the environment. The UK will keep a close eye on these aspects.

British High Commissioner Sarah Cook said, “The scheme will help Bangladesh smoothly transition from LDC status and take the UK-Bangladesh trade relationship to greater heights.”
