In response, the spokesperson revealed that the UN position on Bangladesh still remains unchanged.
He also clarified the UN’s role in election observation, saying, “The United Nations is not in the business of observing elections unless it has a mandate.”
Recently, the US pre-election assessment team recommended a substantive dialogue between the government and the opposition to ensure free, fair, and inclusive elections in Bangladesh.
