UNDP launches Unicode version of UN Bangla font to mark Mother Language Day

MD Abdul Qayyum, UNDP’s head of communications, said, “We will soon launch the Bengali version of our UNDP Bangladesh website using this font. All our other publications will also use this font.”

“Not only UNDP, but all other UN organizations will also be able to use this font. It is also open for free public download and use.”

Jaya Ehsan, who was also present during the launch, said, “It is a great thing for those of us who write in Bangla. I am very happy to be a part of this UNDP initiative for International Mother Language Day.”

The designer of the font, Mohibubur Rahman Rajon, said, “The Bengali script has a lot of diversity due to variations in its phonetics, ligature, etc., giving it a lot of scope to work with the font. There are not many Bengali fonts that have this much variety in terms of design.
