United Nations Resident Coordinator visits Sylhet

The UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, Gwyn Lewis, has visited Sylhet to discuss lessons learned in the response to the flood-affected areas.

During the visit, he met the Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet, Mohd. Mojibor Rahman, representatives of regional non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and United Nations agencies, met on 15 January to discuss lessons learned from some of Sylhet’s flagship projects. Flash Flood Humanitarian Response Plan It was implemented after the devastating floods that hit the region in the summer of last year.

In support of the government, the United Nations and NGO partners launched a massive Flash Flood Humanitarian Response Plan in July 2022 to provide life-saving assistance to vulnerable communities in the five worst-affected districts.
