TIB Outreach and Communication Director Md Tauhidul Islam released details of the affidavits of the candidates.
According to TIB analysis, candidates from Cumilla, Feni and Khulna regions have higher average income and real estate. The real estate of candidates from Barishal, Khulna and Cumilla regions saw an increase in the last five years.
TIB said it found discrepancies in the affidavits submitted by the candidates and their tax return files. It also said 69 per cent of the candidates for the post of chairman are businessmen.
TIB analysed the affidavits of 1,864 chairman candidates, 2,095 vice chairman candidates and 1,513 female vice chairman candidates who contested in the sixth upazila election.
