During his speech, Monirul Haq Choudhury mentioned attending an invitation in 2001. Current deputy leader of the opposition and Jamaat-e-Islami leader, Syed Abdullah Mohammad Tahir also attended the event with his wife.
Speaking somewhat humorously, Monirul Haq said, “I didn’t bring my wife, and some other people didn’t either. But Taher Bhai (Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher) brought his wife. On going inside, I noticed something was going on. I asked, ‘Taher Bhai, where is Bhabhi?’ He replied, ‘Right here!’ Then I remarked, ‘How do I know that you have not brought someone else by mistake?'” At this, many MPs started laughing out loud.
After this, Monirul Haq Chaudhary started commenting directly on the women members of the House.
He said, “I have heard the speeches of the two members; they have a future, they can achieve something in the coming days, and they are well educated. But I failed to recognize who you really are.”
