In his latest threat on his Truth social platform, Trump said of Iran’s bridges and power plants: “They’ll come down fast, they’ll come down easy and, if they don’t take a deal, it would be my honor to do what other presidents have done with Iran for the last 47 years.”
The Strait of Hormuz remained closed on Sunday due to the standoff between Iran and the United States. Tehran announced on Saturday it was again closing it to maritime traffic, while on Friday it had announced its reopening, sparking cheers in global markets.
As mediation efforts continued following high-level talks in Pakistan on 11 and 12 April that failed to reach an agreement, Iran said it would not reopen the vital maritime trade route until the United States ends its blockade of Iranian ports.
