Zafar Rahman won the Best Female Singer award for the song Lichoor Bagane from Tandob.

Imran Mahmudul was awarded the Best Male Singer award for the song Konna from Jinn 3.

Critics’ Awards – Feature Film

Mehjabeen Chaudhary won the Best Actress (Critic’s Choice) award for the feature film Saba

Saba was awarded the title of Best Film.

Piplu R Khan won the Best Director award.

Mahjabeen Chowdhury won the Best Actress award for Saba.

Mahafooz Munna and Shanta Chandra Sutradhar were jointly awarded the Best Actor award for Ural.

James received special honours. Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman and Anjan Chowdhury, managing director of Square Toiletries Limited, presented the award to James.

James received special recognition at the Merrill-Prothom Alo Awards 2025. The event was held on 24 April 2026.

While accepting the award he quipped, “A lifetime award means there’s still half the time left.”

Critics Awards – Web Series

Gulmohar won the Best Web Series award.

Its creator, Syed Ahmed Shawki, was nominated for Best Director (Web Series).

Jaya Ahsan won the Best Actress award for Jimmy.

Nasir Uddin Khan received the Best Actor award for Myself Alan Swapan 2.

Lifetime Achievement Award to Alamgir

Veteran actor Alamgir received this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award and a check of Taka 300,000 were handed over by Runa Laila. This segment was hosted by Afzal Hussain.

Giving a standing ovation, Alamgir said that he will remember this honor for the rest of his life. He later donated the entire prize money to the Prothom Alo Trust.

Anjan Chowdhary, managing director of Square Toiletries, presented actor Alamgir with the Honorary Chair of Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards event on April 24.

After receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, screen legend Alamgir said while holding the microphone, “I don’t know whether I really deserve it or not. My younger brother (actor Afzal Hussain) had said on stage that I have not found fulfillment through acting. I believe Afzal also feels the same. Can one ever be completely satisfied through acting? No. The depth of acting is such that its limits can last even a single lifetime. It will take a hundred lifetimes to find it. We will probably never see the end of it.”

As soon as Alamgir came on stage, the audience stood up and applauded him. He said, “When I came on stage, the way you stood and respected me – I saw it with my eyes and heard it with my ears. I will keep it in my heart till the day I die.”
