Due to her legal status as a minor, the victim’s elder sister testified under an “in camera trial” (in-camera session) following an application by Special Public Prosecutor Azizul Haq Dulu.
Statements were also recorded from the victim’s aunt, uncle, residents of the building, neighbours, police constables Ruma Akhtar and Sharif Mia, sub-inspector (SI) Iqbal Hossain who prepared the investigation report, physician Nasad Jamin who prepared the autopsy report, and Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid who recorded the initial confessions, SI Rashedul Islam and investigating officer (IO) Ohiduzzaman.
On June 1, the tribunal framed charges against both the accused in the case and fixed Tuesday for recording the testimony of witnesses.
Earlier, on May 24, Pallabi police station’s IO – Sub-Inspector Ohiduzzaman – had filed the charge sheet before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court. The case was later transferred to the tribunal.
On May 19, Sohail Rana, a tenant of a neighboring flat, allegedly raped and murdered the girl.
