Veteran film and television star Vikram Gokhale has passed away. He breathed his last on 26 November in Pune. He was 77 years old. Vikram Gokhale, popular for his roles in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, was earlier admitted to the hospital.
Doctors had said that the actor was admitted to a private hospital in Pune following health complications.
Vikram Gokhale was admitted a few days back to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, where he was undergoing treatment. After timely treatment, his condition became quite stable. However, his health began to deteriorate again and his condition remained critical. Vikram breathed his last on 26 November at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune.
His last rites will be performed at Pune’s Vaikunth crematorium this evening.
On the work front, Vikram Gokhale was known for his on-screen roles in films like Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Parwana, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Agneepath and Khuda Gawah. The prolific star who has established himself in Indian cinema has also received the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film Ishti. In television, he has worked in popular shows like Ghar Aaja Pardesi, Alpviram, Jaana Na Dil Se Door, Sanjivani, Indradhanush.
Gokhale was the son of Marathi theater and film actor Chandrakant Gokhale, and after his stint in regional cinema, the actor made his directorial debut in 2010 with the film Aagahat. His last outing was Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty-starrer Nikamma, which released across the theaters in June this year. Vikram Gokhale was also a social worker. His family’s charitable foundation provides financial assistance for the education of disabled soldiers, children of lepers, and orphans.
