Vijay Diwas: There should be political stability

Apart from achieving independence, the goal of this victory was to establish a democratic state and fair society where all citizens would enjoy equal political, economic, cultural and religious rights irrespective of their race, religion and caste and where there would be rule of law. . Established, that is, all laws will apply equally to everyone.

With the victory of 16th December, the primary goal of our liberation struggle has been achieved, i.e. Bangladesh has been established as an independent and sovereign state. The country has made significant improvements in the economic and social sectors in the last 52 years.

The poverty rate has declined significantly while child mortality and maternal mortality have also declined. Our average life expectancy has increased, nutritional status and health systems have improved and the education system has seen expansion.

However, we could not strengthen democracy, the main promise of independence. The indices of civil liberties, freedom of expression and freedom of the press are all falling.
