Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said the government will take action “when the time comes” if foreign diplomats violate the code of conduct.
He said this while speaking about foreign diplomats’ comments on Bangladesh’s next general election after an event at the Foreign Service Academy on Saturday.
Asked whether Bangladesh is taking the comments of foreign diplomats seriously, Momen said, “Even a country like the US has expelled 20-21 Russian diplomats for interfering in their (presidential) election.” He also banned organizations he felt had helped Russia.
“They can take such steps because they are powerful countries. Since we do not have that much power, we cannot take such steps. But we will take action when the time comes,” says the External Affairs Minister.
