Of the 299 constituencies, the declaration of results of two seats won by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidates is under court injunction due to loan default cases.
As per the declared results, BNP won 209 seats out of 297 declared. Its alliance partners won three additional seats, taking the BNP-led coalition’s total to 212. With absolute majority, BNP is set to form the government.
The 11-party electoral alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami secured 77 seats and is set to play the role of parliamentary opposition. Jamaat itself won 68 seats, while NCP won six seats.
