BNP President Tariq Rehman presided over the meeting. By unanimous decision, Tariq Rehman was elected as the parliamentary party leader and Prime Minister.
Salauddin Ahmed told reporters that during the meeting, Tariq Rehman issued two instructions to the party MPs, no MP will accept duty-free car facility and no MP will take government plot.
“Change starts today. Being an MP in this country does not mean they will be more equal than everyone else,” the BNP leader said.
Newly elected BNP MPs did not take oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council. On the reason for not taking this oath, Salahuddin Ahmed said that to reflect the will of the people expressed in the referendum, he would have to go to the Parliament first. Necessary laws and constitutional amendments must be made in Parliament.
