Our core philosophy is that we want to make shoes for everyone. Everyone deserves good shoes, and when they deserve good shoes, they also deserve Bata. Bata needs to make good shoes for everyone. These are not just words.
To do that, you have to create products that satisfy different demographics, different economics – low, high, middle – it doesn’t matter. And you need to be available in your shops, distributors, online platforms, to different audiences.
The quality is undeniable. Shoes should be unreasonably good for everyone. It doesn’t matter the price point. Democratizing quality means that I make quality products and they are available to everyone, not just the elite. Often, quality is considered more expensive, but not us. So quality is everywhere.
Now, design is where things get a little more subjective. We have two options on design. The alternative is to follow a market, which means the market defines who we are. Or option two, the option we take, is to be very clear about who we are and be relevant to the market. Meaning, of course, we see the relevance, of course, we see the trends and we follow them, but it’s still a Bata shoe, and that’s what we’ll do.
