WHO’s 50-year journey: Impact on the health sector of Bangladesh

MD Abul Foyez, former director general of the Directorate General of Health Services and former dean of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, affiliated with WHO in 1981. He has so far visited WHO headquarters 52 times at different times for various works. He has experience of working as an advisor and consultant on several committees of the organization.

He said WHO’s Bangladesh office continues to provide technical assistance in the health sector. They have helped fight malaria, black fever, filariasis, Nipah virus and bird flu. She has also played an important role in health programs related to maternal and child health and developing a competent health human resource.

Professor Mahmudur Rahman, former Director of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), has held various important positions in WHO, including Chairman of the Pandemic Influenza Review Committee.
