Shafiqur Rahman said that the fascism which repeatedly prevented the country from progressing in 54 years was thrown into the Bay of Bengal, drains and sewers by the revolutionaries of 24. Who’s trying to get it back out of the sewer now? It must be remembered that this generation has proved that when they rise, it does not require months or years of movement. His decision to stand and fight is enough to send shivers into the hearts of fascists. This generation’s position against fascism is still clear. The opposition stands with him.
The opposition leader further said, “Our decision has been hijacked, looted; the people have been insulted, and the evidence of this has already come to light. Yes, the pigeon comes again and again to eat the paddy. But when luck is bad, it gets caught in the net. O pigeon, you have eaten the people’s paddy once – don’t think of coming again. If you come this time, your tail, your legs, your wings Will become powerless.”
“You will say that people voted for you – what is the proof of that? Seventy per cent of people voted ‘Yes’ – that is the proof. We were in favor of ‘Yes’. We are still in favor of ‘Yes’. Whether this Parliament accepts it or not, we will implement the referendum decision.”
Shafiqur Rahman said that the opposition has decided to return to the people from Parliament to implement the public decision. The first program of the movement involving people was held last Saturday and he described it as just the beginning.
