With Lyon’s 499 Test wickets, Australia has taken a big lead over Pakistan.

After building a strong base while chasing the target, Pakistan started the game at 132-2, but they were no match for Australia’s top-class attack.

Staunch opener Haq started with 38 runs and nightwatchman Shahzad started with seven runs.

Shehzad, on his debut, lasted only two balls before Pat Cummins blasted his middle stump with a full and straight delivery in the first over.

This brought dangerman Babar Azam to the crease in his 50th Test, he temporarily faced 13 balls before being out with a cover drive off Cummins.

Bidding his time against a seam attack that found bounce and pace on a sun-baked pitch, he struck another blow in Cummins’ next over that kept the scoreboard ticking.

At the other end, Haq continued to perform well and completed his ninth Test 50 from 161 balls and his first Test score in Australia with a single off Lyon.

But runs were difficult to score and when Mitchell Marsh was brought in, he made an immediate impact and dismissed Azam for 21, with the former skipper edging out wicketkeeper Alex Carey.
