Usually women busy with shopping in crowded shopping complexes don’t suspect teenagers. Criminal gangs are using this opportunity, they are using teenage boys to steal valuables from female shoppers. These teen criminals follow female shoppers, walk side by side with them and wait for the opportunity to get cash, mobile phone and other valuables. Sometimes they cut female shopper’s vanity bag with blade and get everything from the bag.
Recently detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police have arrested more than sixty members of criminal gangs. Police recovered seven stolen mobile phones and a private car from them. Police also recovered several food items including date and juice mixed with anesthetics and pesticides. Four of the arrested criminals are teenagers.
Mohammad Nazmul Haque, assistant commissioner, serious crime unit of detective branch said, they have sent under aged criminals to correction center. He also said, police will continue special campaign against these type of criminals to ensure safety in market areas.
