Equal opportunity for man and woman is still a far cry; a new study has revealed that still Bangladeshi woman workers are getting lower wages than their male counterparts. This study was conducted on 68 female and 51 male labors in construction and farming sector, and it revealed that 32 percent women receive less than one hundred taka in a day where only six percent men get less than one hundred taka in a day. Fifty six percent male labors get two to four hundred taka in a day where the percentage of female is only 7 percent. This deprivation is not unique in Bangladesh or third world, even US president Barak Obama had to intervene to ensure equal wage for female workers in US. Some experts are suggesting that Bangladesh government should announce a minimum wage for labors and it may reduce gender discrimination.
