The petitioner said the writ is likely to be heard by a division bench of the high court led by Justice Fatema Najeeb next week.

A referendum was held on 12 February, simultaneously with national parliamentary elections, to implement the constitutional proposals of the July National Charter. The ‘Yes’ vote won in the referendum.

According to the Election Commission, 48,200,660 votes were cast in favor of ‘Yes’, while 22,071,726 votes were cast in favor of ‘No’. In other words, ‘Yes’ got more than twice as many votes as ‘No’.
