The report of the Home Ministry’s inquiry committee formed after the audio of the conversation of Aksadud’s wife was leaked, mentions the incident of his being picked up and ransom collected.
According to this, on the morning of 26 November 2020, when Aqdud was going to the CID office, he reached Malibagh intersection when he was detained by Qaiser Rizvi and his team members and taken to the DB office.
There he was told that five more people had been arrested in connection with the robbery of expatriate Roman Mia in Kavala. It was told that he had named Aksadud in the case.
At one time there was a discussion on how to free him from the charges. Qaiser Rizvi demanded 20 million taka.
At that time, Aksadud had talked to his wife on WhatsApp from Qaiser Rizvi’s phone. Later, all the detained persons were allowed to talk to their family members on mobile phones. As per instructions, everyone left the money at Aqsadud’s house.
The investigation report said that Aksadud gave 3.3 million taka, and the remaining five persons gave 9.5 million taka. The same evening, Qaiser Rizvi and his team members accompanied Aqsadud to his residence in Khilgaon Jheelpar area and collected Taka 12.8 million.
After that, Aqsadud was taken back to the DB office. Later his wife gave additional Taka 14 lakh to Qaiser Rizvi. Aksadud was released on 28 November.
