In response, Zahed Ur Rehman said, “There is absolutely no problem. If a person wants to contest the election and is associated with the Awami League… because it is a non-partisan election and no one will campaign on behalf of any political party… but if in his campaign… and it can happen, an independent candidate can come forward, but if during the campaign he promotes the Awami League or its messages, then it will be a problem.”

“Also, if any non-partisan person fulfills the required criteria to contest the election, he can contest the election, he can certainly do so,” he said.
