After champion England lost, Butler said, ‘It is sad.’

Buttler continued his poor performance with the bat and did not shy away from taking the blame when he was out for one run off leg spinner Adam Zampa.

“Obviously I think my own form has been something that’s probably been the most disappointing thing,” Buttler said, his top score of the tournament being 43 which he scored in the opening loss to New Zealand.

“Obviously, I have a key position in the batting lineup, so my poor performances have had a big impact on the team.”

But Butler, who led his team to the T20 World Cup title last year, said that his faith in his game and the team is still intact.

“I wouldn’t say confidence is shaken, but frustration grows and grows,” he said.

“As I said, these are top quality players. I speak more for myself. I think the confidence in my game is as high as it’s ever been really, which explains why there’s been so much disappointment.”

He further added, “If I stop believing in myself, I’ll make sure I’m the last person to do so. You guys will leave me long before I stop believing in myself.”
