This time BNP boycotted the elections. He calls upon people to boycott the elections by not voting. But finally the election took place. BNP had done the same in 2014 also. The BNP needs to take a retrospective look at what they have achieved through political programs like boycotting the elections. They also have to understand that programs like strikes and blockades have become blunt political weapons.
After the suspicious elections of 2014 and 2018, this time’s election was also not inclusive. In reality, we are stuck in a long-term one-party system of government. More importantly, we have achieved nothing from this election. We see little hope of emerging from the political crisis.
Overall, this election has been an election to maintain constitutional continuity. Through this election, the current ruling class, legally, again receives the legitimacy to remain in power. However, they are now facing a crisis of moral legitimacy.
