And people know how to beat someone up. Chhatra League does not care about any independent candidate. Ahsanul Islam is now in jail for violating election laws.
The Awami League leadership decided to field independent, alternative or dummy candidates to give the election a competitive edge. They feared that due to BNP not participating in the elections, many of their candidates would win unopposed this time too. In the 2014 elections held without BNP, candidates won unopposed on 152 seats out of 300.
