The Election Commission had earlier issued another letter to Zahid Ahsan on April 29, warning him for violating the election code of conduct.
Amid repeated violations of the code of conduct in the Ghazipur city elections, the Election Commission held an emergency meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the matter.
The returning officer had earlier warned Azmat Ullah, Minister for Liberation War Affairs, and local MPs AKM Mozammel Haque and Zahid Ahmed about violating the election code of conduct.
Also, the Election Commission issued letters to the General Secretary and Cabinet Division of the Awami League, requesting them to take measures so that ministers, state ministers and legislators follow the election code of conduct before the elections to the five municipal corporations.
