Morelganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Tariq, who was present at the spot, told Prothom Alo, “The Air Force has started spraying water from helicopters from 12:30 pm. Forest department, volunteers, navy, coast guard, police, upazila administration, public representatives and local people have joined the fire service in this operation.
He said that the fire has now been controlled to a great extent.
UNO said that measures have been taken to prevent the fire from spreading to new areas. The fire service is spraying water from three sides.
