Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen expressed confidence that Bangladesh’s national elections on January 7 will be held in a fair and festive atmosphere.
He assured that there is no need to worry or fear about possible sanctions after the elections, and if any sanctions arise, Bangladesh will face them.
These statements were made during an exchange of views with leaders of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association Bangladesh (DCAB) at the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday evening.
When questioned about preparing for possible US sanctions, Masoud bin Momen responded, “Why should we think the worst? The highest officials are reiterating our commitment to conduct fair elections and the Election Commission is moving forward with that goal. We are hopeful of fair elections and all efforts are towards achieving it.
