BGB personnel Raisuddin killed in BSF firing: demand for investigation

A member of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), who was shot by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) at Dhannokhola border under Benapole upazila of Jashore early Monday, succumbed to his injuries during treatment in India, the BGB said today. Said on Tuesday. ,

A media release signed by 49th battalion commander Lt Col MD Jameel said the deceased, Raisuddin, 35, was posted with BGB-49 battalion in Jashore.

According to the release, a patrolling party of the paramilitary force challenged a gang of cattle smugglers near Jhelepara post area under Benapole upazila around 5.30 am on Monday when they were trying to cross into Bangladesh from India.

At one stage of the chase, the smugglers moved back inside Indian territory, it read, adding that BGB personnel Raisuddin got separated from the patrol amid dense fog.
