Buses torched in Dhaka and Narayanganj: Incidents of arson continue during BNP blockade

During the ‘peace rally’, Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League office secretary William Praloy Samaddar was delivering a speech when the bus was set on fire. He told Prothom Alo that while speaking he saw that the bus was on fire.

When the Prajapati Paribahan bus was set on fire, there were about 40 passengers on board.

Mohammad Mohsin, in-charge of Mirpur Model Police Station, confirmed that miscreants set the bus on fire.

He said that after the fire, the passengers immediately got off the bus. At present, the arsonist is unknown.

Meanwhile, BNP has alleged the involvement of ruling party members in setting the bus on fire.

The party’s senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi repeated this claim several times during the virtual briefing.

Meanwhile, another bus was set on fire in Sutrapur, Dhaka yesterday morning. Apart from this, last night at around 8:30 pm, miscreants set a bus on fire in Tejgaon. This brings the total number of vehicles burnt in Dhaka between October 28 and November 12 to 74.

Despite all the efforts of the police, incidents of serial burning of buses continue in Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner (DB) Harun Ya Rasheed said that the persons responsible for setting the buses on fire were being caught. Many of them have already been identified and named.
